Legend Behind
In Slavic folklore, Marzanna reigns as the goddess of winter and death, a figure both feared and revered. Her presence marks the closing and opening of life’s cycles, a reminder of nature’s eternal rhythm. Often depicted alongside protective hand symbols - like the “God’s Hand” or the “Hand of Mary” from Podhale - she embodies the power to ward off malevolent forces. In her stillness, she holds the promise of endings that give way to new beginnings, guarding the delicate balance between life, death and renewal.
